اللاحقة أو suffix هي حروف أو مجموعة من الحرف نضيفها إلى آخر الكلمات في اللغة الانجليزية, فهي تساعدك على فهم معنى الكلمات الجديدة. هذه بعض اللواحق الأكثر شيوعا في الانجليزية.
er, or: تدل على شخص. مثال: worker,swimmer, instructor
er, or: تدل على شيء أو آلة. مثال: cooker, word processor
full: (صفة) مليء ب. مثال: useful, beautiful
ology: (اسم) موضوع دراسة. مثال: sociology, biology
ics: (اسم) موضوع دراسة. مثال: mathematics, politics, economics
less: (صفة) بدون. مثال: useless, endless
ly: نستعمل هذه اللاحقة في اللغة الانجليزية لتحويل الصفة إلى حال. مثال: sadly, happily
ness: نستعمل هذه اللاحقة لنشكل اسما ذا معنى مجرد من الصفة. مثال: happiness, sadness
y: نستخدم هذه اللاحقة في اللغة الانجليزية لكي نصوغ صفة من الاسم. مثال: sandy, sunny
