كلمات لا نستخدم معها أي أداة, سواء أداة التنكير أو أداة التعريف:
لا نستعمل أداة التعريف definite article أو أداة التنكير indefinite article مع هذه الكلمات الانجليزية:
School, college, university, home, work, church, bed, hospital, prison, town
نستعمل مع هذه الكلمات أداة التعريف أو التنكير فقط عندما نقصد بها "البناء" بدلا من الوظيفة, مثلا عندما نعنى ب school بناء المدرسة بدلا من وظيفتها التعليمية:
It was a beautiful church
The school is very old now
This is not a very comfortable bed
Is there a prison near here?
The hospital is closing down
الكلمات التي لا نستخدم معها أي أداة (أداة تعريف أو أداة تنكير) في جمل:
He doesn't like going to school
I think she's at home now
I usually get to work at 10.00
Do you to church on Sundays?
He was very tired so he went to bed early
Did you have the baby in hospital?
Their father's in prison
كلمات انجليزية نستخدم معها أداة التعريف the:
عادة ما نستعمل the قبل أسماء الأماكن التي نرتادها في المدينة:
The cinema, theatre, disco, opera, post office, bank
وأسماء المحلات التجارية:
Baker's, grocer's, supermarket, chemist, butcher's, dentist's , doctor's, hairdresser's, toilet
كما نستعمل أداة التعرف the مع shopping ونقول: i do the shopping on Mondays
لكننا نستخدم أحيانا a قبل هذه الأسماء:
Did you go to the bank yesterday? لكننا نقول there is a new bank in town
I am going to the supermarket لكننا نقول does she work in a supermarket?
