1-Dialogue between Charles and his wife Ruth
Ruth: Charles what are you doing?
Charles Watson: I am showing Ahmed the house.
Ruth: Where are the children?
Charles Watson: They are playing in the backyard.
Ruth: I am preparing diner now, are we going out this evening?
Charles Watson: Yes I think so; I want Ahmed to see our town.
2- Using the Verb “Be” with the end “ing”:
استعمال الفعل be متبوعا بفعل آخر, وسيكون هذا الفعل الثاني منتهيا بأحرف ing
هذا التركيب اللغوي الانجليزي الذي يتألف من فعل be وفعل أخر ينتهي بأحرف ing
يستخدم في اللغة الانجليزية للإشارة إلى أن الفعل مستمر في الوقت الحاضر, وعادة
ما تضاف كلمة now إلى الجملة للتأكيد على أن الفعل يجري في الوقت الحاضر.
ويسمى هذا الزمن في اللغة الانجليزية بالماضي المستمر (بريزنت كونتينيووس) present continuous
Are you working now? Yes, I am working now.
Is Ruth working now? No, she is not working now.
Am I studying now? Yes, you are studying now.
Am I talking now? No, you are not talking now.
Are we practicing now? Yes, we are practicing now.
Is belly practicing now? No, belly is not practicing now.
Are the children sleeping now? Yes, they are sleeping now.
Are the students sleeping now? No, students are not sleeping now.
Is it raining now? Yes, it is raining now.
Is it snowing now? No, it is not snowing now.
3- Using the verb “to Be” in the past:
استخدام الفعل be في الماضي مع فعل أخر ينتهي ب Ing لكي نكون ما يسمى في
باست كونتينيووس past continuous ويستعمل هذه الزمن في اللغة الانجليزية للدلالة على حدث مستمر في الماضي.
Were you studying last night? Yes, I was studying last night
Was I practicing yesterday? No, you were not practicing yesterday.
Was it raining last night? Yes, it was raining last night.
Were the children sleeping at 9 o’clock? No, they were not sleeping at 9 o’clock.
Were you eating diner at 7 o’clock? Yes, we were eating diner at 7 o’clock.
4-Using verb “to Be” in both the present and past form:
استخدام أدوات الاستفهام في اللغة الانجليزية مع فعل be متبوعا بفعل يحتوي على أحرف Ing
What are you studying now? I am studying chemistry now.
What were you studying last night? I was studying English last night.
Whom are you waiting for now? I am waiting for Ruth now.
Whom were you waiting for yesterday? I was waiting for Fred yesterday.
Where are you going now? I am going to the university now.
Where were you going yesterday? I was going to the airport yesterday.
What are we practicing now? We are practicing English now.
What were we practicing yesterday? We were practicing English yesterday, too.
