If the call stays digital it opens the door to encrypting the call, doesnt it? Would that be a good thing for people to do as a regular thing, even if they are just chatting about the weather? I mean, given that privacy is disappearing fast, would it help to delay the coming of the police state?
And who is to blame here? Government, who is always grabbing more and more power, until it stopped? Or people, who allow that to happen? May be the people should remind their government who serve whom? And BTW, it's not only the government, who wants to spy on you. There are a lot of businesses, that nowadays make huge money on spying on us, e.g. Google, Facebook, and similar... By not encrypting our communications (mails, voice, etc) we actually facilitate the spying business, making it more and more profitable for some... We create the monster here, not anyone else doing it to us.
I don't share the opinion - do not use encryption to protect your communications in anticipation of some hypothetical laws. I'd suggest - just use it.
