1-Dialogue Between Charles Watson With his Wife Ruth and Ahmed Jalal:

Charles Watson Ahmed this is my wife Ruth, Ruth this is Ahmed Jalal.
Ruth: How do you do Ahmed, I am glad to meet you
Ahmed Jalal Thank you Ruth, I am glad to meet you too.
Charles Watson This is our daughter her name is Patty and this is our son his name is Belly.
Ahmed Jalal hello Patty, hi Belly
Charles Watson Ahmed are you tired do you want to rest
Ahmed Jalal no, thanks Charles I was tired, it was a long trip, but I am fine now

2-Verb To Be in the past questioning forms
استعمال الفعل be في الماضي وفي صيغة السؤال عن حدث في الماضي

I was a teacher = was I a teacher?
You were a student =were you a student?
He was a doctor = was he a doctor?
She was a secretary = was she a secretary?
We were friends =were we friends?
They were engineers = were they engineers?

3-Verb To Be in Both Affirmative and Negative Form
استعمال الفعل to be في النفي و الإثبات

Were you tired? = Yes, I was .
Were you a student? = No, I was not .
Was he hungry? = Yes, he was .
Was he a lawyer? = No, he was not.
Was she sad? = Yes, she was .
Was she a nurse? = No, she was not .
Were we tired? =Yes, we were .
Were we friends? = No, we were not .
Were they hungry? = Yes, they were .
Were they engineers? = No, they were not.

4-The pronoun It with the verb Be
استعمال الضمير it مع الفعل to be في اللغة الانجليزية

Was it hot yesterday? Yes, it was hot yesterday
Was it cold last week? No, it was not cold last week
Was it a nice trip? = Yes, it was a nice trip
Was it a small airplane? No, it was not a small airplane
Some person's names with verb to be in the past

5-Questions and answers forms

Charles Watson was a teacher
You were a teacher

Ahmed Jalal was a student
I was a student

Fouad was an engineer
He was an engineer

Ruth was a secretary
She was a secretary

Ruth and jean were friends
They were friends

The weather is hot yesterday
It was hot yesterday

Bob and jam were hungry
They were hungry

Charles and Ahmed were tired
We were tired

Ahmed`s trip was fine
It was fine.
